Hi! Welcome to Sweet Melissa Sunday!! I was scared of the recipe this week because it involved...coconut. I know, weird. I'm not a big coconut fan. Don't get me wrong, I eat those little mini Almond Joys found in my kids halloween bag. But I usually don't bake with anything coconut. So I was a little hesitant to bake a whole batch using coconut. But I had noooooothing to worry about because these cookies were amazing!!
Ellen of the blog Blue Tree Green Heart picked this recipe and it was a great one!
The orange zest made my whole kitchen smell delightful while I was making these. These cookies were like little haystacks of sweet, coconuty, chocolately, orangey goodness. Notice the past tense...they were eaten and GONE pretty quick!! I managed to save some to take to work and 2 people asked for the recipe. I think they liked 'em!!
This recipe is the whole reason I joined Sweet Melissa Sunday. I had the chance to bake something I NEVER would have picked on my own and test it out. I'm so glad I did!! Check out what the other SMS bakers did this week. And have a super Sweet Sunday!!

YUMMY! Mara, I know my mouth is going to start watering every time I visit your site, either over your gorgeous paper creations or you mouth watering recipes! Thanks for sharing all these scrumptious delights :)
Not a fan of macaroons but your pics are FANTASTIC!
Your macaroons look wonderful. Your presentation is great!
I've only been along for a couple of months, and I think most of the things I've made were something "new." It's fun to have a reason to venture into that new territory.
Your macaroons look delicious! Glad you, your family, and coworkers enjoyed them!
FYI - I think they are putting up a post for us to link our posts to now on Sundays so it is easier to find the bloggers that baked along.
YUM! Chocoate and coconut is one of my favorite combos (only second to chocolate and peanut butter).
YUM, YUM, YUM!!!
These macaroons look delicious! I never have made them, but I do like them! They're usually so moist!
Mara, your macaroons look delicious. I know what you mean about the coconut thing. But I chickened out and didn't use coconut. I subbed ground almonds. I am tempted to make the original recipe given all the positive comments on everyone's experience. Glad to hear yours were a big success! :)
I couldn't agree more Mara - trying things outside of my comfort zone was definitely one of my prime motivations for joining baking groups! So glad you enjoyed these cookies despite your initial reservations. Your macaroons look wonderful :)
Pretty plating. Glad yours were gobbled up. My kids aren't big into coconut, so mine went straight into the freezer for a reception I'm baking for.
The coconut looks delicious!
I'd never made macaroons before, and weren't these good ones to start with? I thought they were lovely -- glad you liked them too!
The macaroons look delicious. It's great when the selection is something you would have tried and I end up loving it. Glad you joined in on the coconut fun.
Your macaroons look beautiful!
