I was rummaging around in my closet last week when I ran across some photos of my dad and my kids. My dad has been gone for almost three years now and these photos stopped me in my tracks. I sat staring at them for a while, just thinking about my dad and how much I missed him. And then I realized that I hadn't really scrapped the photos yet. I guess I wasn't really ready, but I suddenly had the overwhelming urge to scrap them immediately!! To get those photos in my scrapbook for my kids to look at, to remember, and to enjoy.
I used the Color Me Daisy August Kit for this layout. The journaling was hard, but I realized that this really is WHY I scrapbook. I want my kids to remember the time they spent with him and I want to remember later. And I want my grandkids to 'know' my dad. He was a great man and I miss him very much!!
Thanks for stopping by...
So sorry about your dad, how wonderful that you have this photos to remember him and for your kids as well!
ReplyDeleteI'm all teary and can understand the emotions you had when you did this page. This will be so great for your kids to remember Pops!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you did and think of the smile it will bring to your face each time you look at it.
ReplyDeleteI did a whole album for my brother after he died, many tears were put in that book as well as many happy memories. I didn't want anyone to forget him.
Now you have started do some more photos you have of your dad and tell the stories of your memories of him. Let him continue to live on in your children's memories for years to come.
Great layout.
Wonderful page to do...I'm sure it will mean a lot to them as it does to you!

ReplyDeleteWonderful page Mara! You're right. The reason that I scrapbook is to preserve memories. It's a plus that your page, on top of telling a heartwarming story, is beautiful too.
