Celebrating Moms!!!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!! I just wanted to give a few shout-outs to the amazing moms in my life. The first being MY mom!!!

I don't think I truly appreciated my mom until I became a mom myself. My mom raised 4 kids
who were pretty spread out in age (I was 10 when my youngest brother was born). So she had to deal with diapers for a long time, LOL!!! She always made us school lunch, drove us all over Northern California for swim meets, would make us hot breakfasts for us to eat in the car in the morning after swim practice and before school, and was the best baker/chef/cook in the kitchen. My friends in high school called her Betty Crocker because she was always bringing goodies to swim meets for all the kids. One of my strongest memories is being in the kitchen with her, stirring the strawberry jam pot while she made jam in the summers. The smell of strawberry jam cooking still brings me back to childhood. Now that i'm a mom, she's the best Baki (grandma) and my kids love to visit her and have her visit us. Thanks mom for showing me the best example on how to be a mom myself!! I love you!!!

My Mother-in-law is another example of a great mom. She raised her 3 kids wonderfully and i'm very lucky to have such a great husband. My husband has fond memories of great Christmas's and family vacations. And we really appreciate all the babysitting she and my father-in-law do for us. And she's an absolute whiz with thread and fabric and a sewing machine!! She made us the most amazing fish pillows about 10 years ago and they are still going strong. My kids love seeing her and she's become a great grandma, too! Thanks Peggy for all you do for us!!

Hope you all have a beautiful day!

Raspberry Suite Challenge #5

This week was a tough one for me!!! Look at these colors...

Beautiful, right?? But I had one heck of a time trying to get my pinks to coordinate. And I don't have alot of grey in my stash, so I really had to dig for something that would work!! Here's what I came up with-

I am finally starting to use my polka dot set from Papertrey Ink. I love it and I am getting the hang of stamping with white ink. I used a big Heidi Swapp flower for my lighter pink along with some Hero Arts bling. I am happy to be done with it, LOL!!!

Hope you're all having a great Saturday! We are off soon for baseball and softball games on a beautiful Saturday morning!!

Fancy Cake...OOO La La!!

Week 3 of my cake decorating class and our instructor said we'd be making a 'fussy' cake. I thought for sure I wasn't going to like it, but I was wrong! We made a double layer round cake and I filled mine with chocolate dobash, which is similar to chocolate pudding but it doesn't make the cake all soggy. Lots and lots of fun tube work on this one, I actually really enjoyed doing all the detail work.

Lattice work, flowers, borders, ruffles, more borders, more flowers, hearts and leaves!! This one was fun. I brought it to work and it was gone in about 10 minutes. The filling was great, too. Next week...cupcakes!!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!!

This week we are celebrating our teachers at the kid's school. Monday, they brought them flowers. Today it was fruit, a kiwi and mango went to school.. And today is sweet treat day!! So Kayla and I decided to chocolate dip some pretzels. Oh, this is so easy and yummy!!! Melted some white and milk chocolate and dipped away!!

And with such a nice homeade sweet treat, you need something homeade and fun to put it in...right??? I tried out the basket template from Papertrey Ink and paired it with the great papers in the Color Me Daisy May kit. What do you think???

I like how it turned out except I think next time i'll do the basket all one color and then use accent colors to decorate. The tag was stamped with the Spring Tag set from Papertrey. Pretzels will go inside for a sweet teacher treat!!!

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!!

Raspberry Suite Challenge #4

Here is this week's challenge for Dawn Mcvey...look at these great colors!!

And here is my card!!

I had fun with my white ink and Kraft cardstock. This was my first time doing that combination and I really like it. Although some of my polka dots look a bit splotchy, like I had too much ink on the stamp. Live and learn!! The stamps are from Papertrey Ink, as is the kraft and the polka dots paper and the buttons! The brown paper is Bazzill. Very simple and done, LOL!!!

Hope you had a great National Scrapbooking Day yesterday. We had a busy day doing family/kid stuff but I did manage to get that card finished! Now more family stuff today and the weather is beautiful. So we will be outside for sure!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Moments 2 Remember May Reveal!!

I am really excited to be bringing you the Moments 2 Remember May kit called Springtime Cheer. It features the Penny Lane collection from My Mind's Eye and it's a beauty! It was designed by our new kit designer, Sarah and I think she did a fabulous job.

Here are a few projects I completed with the kit. This first layout is of my kids and their cousin. They seriously have so much fun together.

This is my family, out to dinner and celebrating family birthdays!

My mom, sister, and I acting goofy at the scrapbook expo!! How stinkin' cute is that paper!!

And a few cards. I am loving the look of Kraft cardstock for a card base.

And a fun wood gift box I painted and altered. Would be great for any occasion, I think I might use it for teacher appreciate week next week at the kids school.

I have one more project that i'm going to save for another day!! If you made it this far, thanks for checking out my projects. And don't forget to check out our Travel Plans over at Moments 2 Remember this month. We are going on a month long trip around the world.
