Fresh Fruit Tart

So...I had a bunch of fruit hanging around the house (see previous farmer's market post for the reason!!) and I happen to talk to my mom yesterday. She just made a fruit tart and I've had it before and it's wonderful. What better way to use up some fruit! My kids and I set out yesterday afternoon to make it. Here's the great recipe she gave me. It's a recipe my youngest bro put together and shared with us. It's one for all you vegans out there.

Crust:
1 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
dash of salt

Combine well. Add 1/4 cup ICED/VERY COLD oil. Mix with one of those pastry thingies. Add 1/4 cup ICE COLD water + 1 tsp vinegar. Mix again with pastry thingy. Roll out and make sure it's bigger than your pie pan. Drape it into the pie pan and let the extra hang over. Put in the freezer. Make the filling...

Filling:
3 cups fruit (I used peaches, plums, cherries)
1/2 cup sugar
3 tbsp corn starch
squeeze of lemon

Mix well. Add to cold crust. Fold over the extra crust before baking. Brush crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 30 minutes at 400 degrees. Try to wait until it cools off enough so you don't burn the crap out of your mouth. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped topping. Delicious!!!

Kayla pretty much made the crust and rolled it out. Kevin pitted every one of those cherries for me!! It was a team effort. And a team effort eating it, although I did sneak another piece when the kids were in bed.

Here's another layout I did using the June Scrap That kit. I love this shaped Bazzill paper, so fun!! Perfect colors for this layout about my brother-in-law.

Happy Monday everyone!!

A little Fancy Pants

Good morning everyone!! I have a layout to share today. I made it with my June kit from Scrap That! I love this Fancy Pants paper, so bright and fun!

I've also been seeing these cool ribbon spool projects lately and decided to try one. I took this...

Deconstructed it, embellished it and came up with little trinket box for my daughter. She is still deciding what to put in it!!

That's it for today! Going to spend a lazy Sunday with my kids. Maybe go out and do something...but maybe not!! Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Fav's

Again...on Saturday!!! Here are my 5 favorites at the Farmer's Market this morning...

1. Kettle Corn! 1 bag of kettle corn = the kids are good at the farmer's market. Hee hee...

2. The real corn. I love fresh corn on the cob!

3. Fresh Flowers, so pretty!

4. Berries, berries, and more berries. The kids just love the raspberries!

5. Free samples. The peaches and nectarines at this stand were to die for, bought a big bag of both!

I'm so happy there is a farmer's market in our town now. It's pretty small, but I still found everything I wanted and it's all so good. I got a big 2 pound bag of cherries, too. SO yummy! Hope you're all having a good weekend!!

Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combos #3

I recently found this new color challenge blog and i've been playing along. It's called Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combo Challenge blog...or SPCC for short! Here is challenge #3:

And where is what I came up with. I used my favorite polka dot stamps from Papertrey Ink, some Papertrey cardstock and CTMH patterned paper.

I can't resist the butterflies lately!! And because I had all my stuff out and some scraps I was trying to clean up, I made another card with the same colors.

You should definitely check out the new challenge blog, some great color combos so far and more to come!! Thanks for stopping by!!

It's Blog Hop Time!!

WooHoo!!! Another Papertrey blog hop, I love these!! This month we had to get inspiration from someplace. My friend Beth was talking about her Coastal Living magazine and I had never seen one before. So I checked it out online and found some awesome home decorating ideas. I fell in love with this room:

The green, white, and blue. So crisp and clean!! And it inspired my card:

I used the sentiment from Mega Mixed Messages and the new flourish stamp set. I haven't really used that one yet, and I was happy to break it open! I just love the blue and green together and the ribbon picks up the stripes in the inspiration photo, too.

Thanks for stopping by! Have fun hopping around tonight..I know I will!!

Geocaching 101

We had a blast geocaching in Mammoth. What the heck is geocaching, you ask?? All you need is a handheld GPS unit, your legs, and some determination to find the treasure. Geocaches are hid everywhere around the world by just about anybody. Want to find out more? Go HERE.

Here are the caches we found in Mammoth:
#1: Twin Lakes, duct taped up peanut butter jar with a Cinderella pez dispenser!!

#2: Near Lake Mary-a big ammo box that was wedged in a rock crack. I found this one! You should have heard me squeal with delight!!

#3: Just outside the Village in Mammoth by this really cool creek and historical house. Kevin found this one all by himself! Looked like a camoflagued water cooler.

#4: Again near Twin Lakes. Behind this huge abandoned boat, shoved in a stump. I don't have a photo...and in my defense I was being bit by 3 huge black ants at the time and was slightly distracted.

#5: Along a bike/walking trail near another historical house. Kayla found this one all by herself!

#6: Near the original Mammoth City. The clue for this one was 'Guarded by 2 Pines'. We looked around and saw about 15 pine trees...so this was a toughie!! Some kind of painted pretzel container??

#7. Near a big fly wheel that was used in gold mining way back when. Kevin found this one, too. He was SO excited!!! This one was just hidden in May and we were the 2nd people to sign the log book.

We were 7 for 7!! Very exciting. And we saw parts of Mammoth i'm sure we would not have visited. Such a great way to spend an afternoon and the kids are really into it, too. Some of the caches have little toys and if the kids leave a toy, they can take one. Now we have some new little stuffed animals in the house!

Hope you're all having a great week. Thanks for stopping by!

Camping Goodness

We just spent 5 days in Mammoth and it was fun and cold!! There was still snow on the ground and the nights were cold. Thank goodness for the space heater!!

We did lots of fishing and hiking. Every lake in the area is just gorgeous!!

There were some gorgeous waterfalls, too!

The kids got a kick out of putting their toes in the ice cold creek!! It was a nice break after a long hike.

I have lots more photos but I need to get to editing and deleting alot of the 'bad' ones. And I got some scrappy goodies in the mail today and can't wait to play!! I'll share some more photos later this week. Thanks for stopping by!!

Just some layouts

I've been playing over at Simply Obsessed and one of their challenge contests called Simply Obsessed's Got Talent! Here are a few of my layouts.

This one was for a stitching challenge. Too bad I didn't read the fine print, I was supposed to use 3 photos..oops!!

This was for a stamping challenge. Use stamps to make patterned or background paper and then use stamps in your title. I used my polka dot basics set from Papertrey Ink to make the background paper and dug out (and dusted off!!) some foam stamps for the hearts in the title.

And a sketch challenge! We had to create our own sketch and then an example layout. I kept it real simple because i'm not that great at making my own sketches.

Photobucket

That's all I have for today! You should come check out Simply Obsessed, great challenges, great girls, great talent, and great kits!!

Thanks for stopping by!
