Legoland Rocks!!

We took the kids to Legoland over spring break this year and they just loved it. Kayla is just tall enough to go on all the rides (last summer she was too short and was pissed about it!). She went on every roller coaster she could! Kevin...not so much. He wanted nothing to do with the coasters. But the best news is I finally got the photos scrapped! I used the June 'Dude' kit from The Scrapping Spot. It was fabulous, with all sorts of bright colors that were perfect for our Legoland trip. The paper is by Prima with some really pretty Prima flowers to match!! I pretty much devoured the kit, I still have some scraps. Need to make some cards with those scraps, can't let them go to waste!!!

Altered Flour

Well...I haven't been feeling very crafty lately. Maybe a bit of burnout after my big scrap retreat weekend. So i've been channeling my energies into something else. Treats!!! I love baking and have been doing it alot lately. My daughter made these cupcakes with my hubby last week during the day (of course, chocolate!!) and then we frosted them at night. My son wanted blue frosting and my daughter wanted green. Can't they agree on anything???? So we combined the two and made a teal-turquoise like color for the frosting. Of course, had to top them with sprinkles and M&M's! I like the swirl tops better than the star frosted tops...what do you think?

The last two days I made these sugar cookies. Love the sugar recipe I have from my mom, it's so easy and delicious. I didn't have any red food coloring, so I had to stick with yellow, green and blue. I really need to branch out and get some other colors. Lots of fun playing with royal icing and using my frosting bags and tips. That was a great buy at Michael's, especially with my 50% coupon. I keep saying i'm going to sign up for cake decorating classes. One of these days I will actually do it.

I took a bunch of these to work this morning (because I cannot have them hanging around the house!) and they were gone by 9:30am. What a great breakfast!!

My Little Dancer

Kayla had her dance recital last night. Her class danced to 'You'll be in my heart' by Phil Collins. I think it was in the Tarzan movie. Regardless, it was (as you can imagine) just about the cutest thing ever. I loved their costumes, they were blue!! She really loved her dance class and was pretty good at learning the moves. There was an older girl on stage with them doing the dance and they ended up looking at her most of the time. I think she could have done it without the prompting...but that's just her proud mama talking! Look at me, only her 2nd recital and already a stage mom. She was really excited about dancing on the big stage and did great with the rehearsal and all the prepping. Here are a few pics of my future star:

She was SO tired of me taking photos of her!!! When we were leaving, she refused to smile or look at me. So I deliberately started chasing her around like the paparazzi (until my hubby told me to stop). She gave me THIS attitude...

Sorry sweepea, you are still cute!!!

How Does Your Garden Grow???

We are seeing lots of green-ness in our garden! We've had some red tomatoes (mostly cherry tomatoes) and lots of green ones. Baby cucumbers, radish sprouts and squash growth has been pretty exciting!!

And these are the Herbs!!!

My sweet hubby has been planning and starting to make our compost bin. The frame is done and now he's planning the sides and top and all sorts of other parts. Yeah!

Hope your garden is growing!!!

Scrap Retreat!!

I just got back from a scrap retreat and for those of you who have never done one before, you are missing out!!! It was fantastic. Lots of laughing and drinking and chatting and music...oh yeah, and scrapping! It was one of those weekends that felt like I was gone for about 2 weeks. Here are a few layouts I made. I was really into the Basic Gray this weekend. I have the Boxer, Archaic and Sugared lines. They are all fantastic and I used them all!

I'll share some more later, right now gotta go kiss my two cuties good night!!

Welcome June!!!

I can't believe it's already June. What happened to the beginning of the year? My son will be graduating from Kindergarten next Friday and then summer officially starts. It's too bad that I have to work all summer and get to hear about all the fun stuff that my family does when i'm at work! I'm just happy that my hubbie can be home with the kids and they can play all day. We started summer a bit early with sprinklers in the backyard. The kids could seriously do it all afternoon.

Yeah for Summer!!!

Altered Gift Box

I just made this gift box for a scrappy friend of mine. It was a plain wood box I bought at the local craft store for $1. I painted it pink with acrylic paint. I used my threading water punch to create the trim. I cut a strip of Basic Gray Sugared patterned paper 7/8 inch wide. I then punched on both sides to create the circle trim. Attached it to the box with zip dry glue (best glue EVER!!!). I then made the bow for the top. I used a tutorial from the Splitcoast Stampers website. Lined the inside with the matching patterned paper and added some pink fluff!! I love how it turned out and i'm really excited to give it out.
